I Am So Confused!

Let us take a few questions of which you may be asking yourself regarding your decision to turn your life over to God.

  1. I do not feel I am worthy to even think God would want me so why get my hopes up?

Not a single person on this earth is worthy of the love and blessings that come from having a personal relationship with Christ. Christ will take you just as you are if you sincerely come to Him admitting the things you have done that is the cause of your guilt and unhappiness and asking His forgiveness. Christ represents the ultimate meaning of love and He knows your heart. Because He will know your sincerity, He will not turn you away when you reach out to Him.

  2. I have always heard I cannot pray for myself so how can I ask Him to help me?

There is no reason whatsoever why you cannot pray for yourself concerning anything you are dealing with. You will learn as a Christian that God's Word, the Bible, is your guidebook to all things you do as a Christian. There is nothing that you will ever encounter that the Bible will not have an answer for. So to answer the question of whether or not a person can pray for themselves, there is no place in the Bible that says you cannot, on the contrary there are countless examples all through the Bible where people pray for themselves and their prayers are heard.

  3. I thought I was above all living creatures so why should I bow to someone I can not even see?

You are correct when you say man is above all living creatures but God is the Creator of all things. If it were not for God there would be nothing. Man in his arrogance tries to say that there is no creator but that all living things came from some single atom or molecule or crawled out of the ocean or came up from the mud or some other nonsense. You can take life back even to a single molecule and say everything derived from that single molecule but where did that molecule come from? Scientifically things do not happen without a physical cause so someone had to create that molecule and that someone is God our Creator. Because God is the reason you even have life then for that reason alone He deserves your respect and honor even if you do not wish to ask Him for help.

  4. I thought I had to belong to a particular Church or Denomination and do all that they require before I can be called a Christian?

Simply put the answer is no. No institution has the power to say you are or are not a Christian. Only God has that authority and only God is the one that needs to be approached and asked for forgiveness and help. If you truly give your life to Christ and begin to follow His guidelines as defined in His Word, then you are a Christian no matter what anyone says. You are not to please man. God is the one you need to focus all your efforts on. Man cannot save you but God most certainly can and will.

  5. I am afraid of what will happen to me when I die. Will being a Christian make a difference?

Absolutely! If you give your life to Christ and strive to learn all you can about Him and His guidelines as written in His Word, you will have no fear as to your future including when it comes time to die. Christ is there for you all through your life and even after you die. The peace you will experience when you live your life for Christ cannot be described in mere words. It is something that takes your entire life over from the inside out. A peace that no matter what you encounter you know without a doubt Christ is right there for you walking every step with you. He already knows what is going to happen so why not walk it through with Him by your side listening to everything He say so you get it right the first time?
